This a redesign of the Design Observer website, a very academic source of all types of design criticism, into a printed and ipad publication. The idea for the identity and layouts comes from the idea that all design has a strong relation to the grid whether it is 2d or 3d.

The Oracle of Medea is a fortune telling game, converted from Cornelius Agrippa's The Ladie's Oracle. Agrippa was not only a womanizer, but also a very famous alchemist, which is why most of the ornaments and patterning in the design are symbols of alchemy, and have a feeling of wonder and magic.

The Adidas Adizero 5-star Football Cleat weighs in at 6.9 ounces making it the lightest cleat ever. The idea for the campaign comes from images of lightness and speed and the magic that results from it, on the football field, in outer space, and beyond. This project was completed during my internship at Mutt Industries where I got to play Art Director for the commercial and lead the design for the web campaign. I mostly just pretended like I knew what I was doing.

Targeting our design peers at MICA, we hoped to make graphic design a little less serious, and inspire a fresh perspective, a closer look, or a new way to observe. Stage 1: Iphone explorations
Stage 2: Iphone explorations translated into physical ones, including human participation
Stage 3: Javascript/ Scriptographer explorations

Completed for my thesis at MICA, this project is an exploration in all things I am not an expert in. I am not a digital genius, sculptor or mind reader. Exploring new media and including human participation is my way to relinquish control in my design process. My hope is that viewers are not be able to decode exactly how I reached the outcome, but may be inspired to approach new media in a less serious way, and to embrace the illogical.
Body of work includes a 5'x3'x1' paper, wire, and neon light sculpture, zine, and four commemorative screenprints.
Awarded Outstanding Senior Project 2012

Play Magazine targets the element of the ridiculous in contemporary pop culture. This is the music issue, and features such topics as: Beyonce's different weaves throughout her career, Kreashawn's new video game, and a conversation between Tyler The Creator and Wacka Flocka Flame. In response, the design is playful, experimental, and rhythmic.
